27 GO-IEP questions, answered plainly.
The questions Georgia teachers actually ask, with short answers and a link to the official GaDOE page behind each one. If yours is not here, send it through Hallway Hints and it will be.
Finalize and amendments
Why won't my IEP finalize in GO-IEP?
The most common blocker is open progress reports from the previous IEP. Every open report must be finalized or inactivated before a new IEP or amendment can finalize. Other frequent blockers: audit errors such as accommodations not justified on the Present Levels page, an incorrect meeting date, or a missing evaluation completion date on the Timeline page for initial eligibility.
Does a new IEP close the old progress reports automatically?
No. GO-IEP does not close progress reports from the prior IEP when a new IEP or amendment is finalized. Each one has to be closed by hand, either finalized or inactivated.
In what order do progress reports have to be closed?
Sequential date order, oldest first. Closing them out of order will not clear the block.
Can I undo finalizing an IEP in GO-IEP?
No. Once an IEP is finalized, no changes can be made without starting an amendment. Confirm everything before you choose yes.
Why did the Draft watermark disappear from my IEP?
The Draft watermark drops from the printed document once the IEP is finalized. Seeing it gone means the IEP is final and further changes require an amendment.
Why is the meeting date wrong on my amendment?
An amendment's meeting notice is created as a copy of the parent IEP's notice, so it carries the original date forward. Change it before you do anything else, because a wrong meeting date cascades into progress report and timeline errors.
Can an amendment be completed without a meeting?
Yes, when the team agrees to amend without convening. GO-IEP still asks who participated, and the parent needs to be marked as attending or the audit will flag that services started before the parent was notified.
Audit errors
What does the blue text in a GO-IEP audit message mean?
The blue text names the section of the IEP that needs correcting. Read it first; it tells you where to go rather than what to type.
What does the Present Level Areas of Need or Accommodations audit error mean?
The IEP has accommodations on the State Testing page or the Student Supports page, but the need for accommodations has not been indicated on the Present Levels page.
Do I have to justify every accommodation, or just check the box?
Checking the accommodations box for the relevant area of need passes the audit. Justifying each accommodation in that area-of-need text box is what makes the IEP compliant. If an accommodation is not needed, delete it rather than justify it.
Why does my amendment fail the audit when there was no meeting?
Because the parent was not marked as present. Parents are equally involved in an agreed no-meeting amendment, so marking them as attending clears the flag.
What does the initial eligibility audit warning mean?
The Initial Evaluation completion date has not been entered on the Timeline page. Enter it, then run Audit/Finalize again.
Why does my ESY goal trigger an audit error?
A goal marked as an ESY goal requires the ESY decision to be yes and an ESY service in the IEP. All three have to agree. Align them, or unmark the goal if ESY is not being offered.
Progress reports
What is the halfway rule for GO-IEP progress reports?
It decides whether an open progress report can be inactivated or must be finalized. If the meeting date falls past the halfway point of the progress reporting frequency period, the report must be completed and finalized. If it falls before the halfway point, the report can be inactivated instead.
Where is the Inactivate option for a progress report?
At the bottom of the progress report, opened from the Progress Reports dashboard. It is available to the case manager or a system administrator, and only when the meeting date falls before the halfway point of the reporting period.
What has to be entered before a progress report will finalize?
Every goal and objective needs a progress date, a status, comments, and data for the period. A report with any goal left blank will not finalize.
Who can enter progress data in GO-IEP?
Any team member responsible for the goal. A therapist can enter progress on a therapy goal while the case manager handles classroom goals.
Do IEP goals need numbers to use GO-IEP progress monitoring?
Yes. Goals need numerical mastery criteria for the progress monitoring features to work.
Annual review and goals
What should I gather before starting an annual review in GO-IEP?
Progress data for every goal with numbers, service minutes as actually delivered, recent assessment results per area of concern, evidence that each accommodation is used and needed, draft goal ideas for the team to shape, and parent input. Gathering first turns screen time into data entry.
What is the right order of steps for an annual review in GO-IEP?
Start from the student's timeline and complete the meeting notice with an accurate date, develop the sections with accommodations justified in Present Levels, close every open progress report from the prior IEP, run Audit/Finalize and clear what it names, then finalize.
Can I use percent accuracy as the evaluation method for a social or emotional goal?
Official GaDOE guidance cautions against it. Percent accuracy does not fit social and emotional goals well. Choose an evaluation method that matches what the goal actually measures.
Where does the parent address on the printed IEP come from?
The parent address on the student's Profile page. If it prints wrong, correct it on the Profile page rather than on the document.
